The Jackson Mastodon
Title
The Jackson Mastodon
Subject
Workmen unearthed what was likely a mastodon when digging a well near the electric light plant. When about 17 feet below the bed of salt creek workmen found ribs that measured 4 foot long and ¾ inch in width. Further down they discovered the bones of a foreleg. This weighed 11 pounds and was 11.5 inches in circumference in the center and was 20 inches long.
